Sonnet No. 9

All begins and ends with the senses
All is resolved into them and reign
No greater induction than perception
Sound, sight, touch, taste and odors
Measure, pleasure, depth, breadth, and colors
Softness, hardness, sharpness, pain
Science itself, nothing else, but sensation
Each philosophy from thought, creates
A better place for human life to know
Its own green pasture and to grow
Sensations from within the sown grain
Of each human being's coded soul
As a link joining them as a whole
To memory's genetic chain.
