(Homage to Dylan Thomas on his 100th birthday)

So much written about Dylan's dinking bouts
One wonders if his countrymen
Ever bothered to read his works:
I have my doubts.

We feel his spirit tormented where his women
Seem unreal, angelic or else diabolic
His childhood scenes supremely ethereal
Conceal the key.

Forever suspended below a time magic
His poetic genius far outshines his country's
Bible-black darkness and dour decline
Where their son's chained tears still sing like the sea!
